Home learning task 6/07/2020

by Miss Campbell & Mrs Aldous

This week as part of our Big Question we are reading the story ‘Handa's Surprise'. Click on the link below to listen to the story.

Once you have listened to the story, talk to your parent/ carer about what happened at the beginning, middle and end of the story.  How many fruits were in Handa's basket? Why was her friend surprised? Can you remember the names of the fruit that Handa put in the basket for her friend? What words did the author use to describe the fruit?

Your challenge is to make your very own fruit salad. Which fruits will you use? We would love to see a picture or a video of you making your fruit salad. You can email them to us at: kcampbell@oldmoat.manchester.sch.uk or khall@oldmoat.manchester.school.uk

Which fruit was your favourite in the story of Handa's Surprise? Can you make a fruit puppet and think of a name that sounds the same as the initial sound of the fruit's name? For example Ben the banana, Ollie the orange, Ahmed the avocado. We would love to see some of your puppets and hear about the name you have given them. Please remember to email them to us.

Song time

We love to sing at our school. Click on the song below to learn the song that is all about patterns. You can ask your parent/ carer to join in with you.

Can you create your own song about a pattern?

Do you think you can complete a pattern independently? Click on the link below and complete the patterns. Can you talk about the pattern with your parent/ carer? What colour will come next?

Can you find some objects in your home to make a pattern?
